Program CurriculumThe program consists of three (3) one-week sessions that are currently conducted once each year. Participants can elect to complete the course in one calendar year. However, this is not a requirement, since the sessions may be taken in any sequence. The course is designed to allow an attendee to enter the curriculum at any of the three sessions. The program is being constantly updated to incorporate new technologies and regulatory requirements. The three (3) week program is the most comprehensive offering of its kind. A description of the courses follows: EM1: MANAGING ENERGY FOR GREATER PROFITABILITY Course Contents: Energy Industry Overview, Energy Codes Standards and
Legislation, Electric Utility Rates, Renewable Energy, Procurement of
Fuels, Strategic Planning, Energy Calculations, Energy Survey Instruments,
Economic Analysis, Survey Planning, Establishing an Effective Energy Management
Program, and Techniques for Working with People. Course Contents: Compressed Air Systems, Energy Efficient Lighting, Boilers and Steam Systems, Thermal Energy Storage, Fundamentals of HVAC Systems, Chillers/Cooling Towers, Electric Motors and Power Quality, Geothermal Heat Pumps, and Building Automation Systems. EM3: INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL ENERGY, PROCESS AND BUILDING ANALYSIS Course Contents: Building Envelope Analysis, Industrial and Commercial Ventilation, Preventative Maintenance, Process Energy Analysis, Cogeneration, DDC Controls Specifications, Procurement and Commissioning, and Pumping Systems.
